Migrate to AWS at Half the Cost of the Big Firms. Zero Downtime.
Your legacy system is costing more every quarter. We’ve helped organizations cut infrastructure costs 30–60% by migrating to AWS — with Terraform IaC, zero-downtime cutover, and an India-based engineering team that costs a fraction of US consultancies.

Who This Is For
Built for Mid-Market Organizations With Legacy Debt
You have 5 - 200 workloads running on-premises or in a colocation facility
Your system runs on .NET Framework, PowerBuilder, Java EE, or COBOL
You don't have a CMDB or complete dependency map (we build it)
You have complex Microsoft or Oracle licensing and don't know what transfers
You need a partner who leads strategy, not just follows instructions
Budget matters — you want AWS-certified delivery without big-firm overhead
Why legacy systems become a strategic liability
Your Legacy System Is Not Just Slow. It’s Compounding Risk.
Every quarter a legacy system runs on-premises, the gap between what it costs to maintain and what a cloud-native replacement would cost widens. Scaling is manual. Security patches require downtime. Engineers who understand the codebase are retiring. And every new feature request — AI, analytics, API-first integrations — gets harder to ship on top of architecture that was never designed to carry it.
The question is not whether to migrate. It’s whether to do it now — on your terms, with zero downtime — or later, under pressure, with a shrinking window.
AWS migration methodology
Three Patterns. One Rule: Zero Downtime.
Not every migration needs the same approach. The right pattern depends on your timeline, technical debt, and how much of the existing architecture is worth keeping. We use three — and we’ll tell you which one applies to your system before any work begins.
Move the application as-is to AWS with minimal code changes. Fastest time to cloud. Right for workloads where getting off on-premises is the priority and optimisation can follow. We use Amazon EC2 or ECS Fargate as the landing zone, with Terraform IaC defining every resource. Migration time measured in weeks, not months.
Urgent data centre exit, licence cost reduction, DR/HA improvement needed now.
Move to AWS with targeted changes — swap the database engine, containerise the application, replace a managed service component. The business logic stays intact; the infrastructure gets modern. This pattern works equally well for PowerBuilder, ASP.NET Web Forms, ASP.NET MVC, and WCF (.NET Framework) applications — where the business logic is proven but the infrastructure is the liability. A particularly cost-effective path: re-platform older .NET Framework applications to .NET 8+ running on Linux-based Amazon ECS Fargate, moving the database to Amazon Aurora or RDS. Migrating from Windows Server to Linux on AWS removes the Windows licensing overhead — a meaningful cost reduction on larger fleets. Typical infrastructure cost reduction: 30–60% post-migration.
Existing codebase is defensible. Business logic is complex and proven. Infrastructure is the liability, not the application.
Redesign for the cloud from the ground up. Monolith broken into microservices on ECS Fargate. APIs rebuilt with API Gateway and Lambda. Data layer redesigned with Aurora, DynamoDB, or Glue CDC depending on throughput requirements. This takes longer but produces a platform that can carry AI, analytics, and new product lines without a second migration in three years.
Existing architecture is a blocker to growth. Technical debt exceeds the cost of a rebuild. New capabilities (AI, real-time analytics) are on the roadmap.

The Migration Process
How a Migration Actually Runs - From First Call to Production.
- Application dependency mapping – what talks to what.
- Database schema analysis and migration complexity scoring.
- Infrastructure audit — on-premises footprint, licensing, compliance requirements.
- AWS Landing Zone setup with Terraform IaC — VPC, subnets, security groups, IAM roles.
- Target architecture design.
- Data migration strategy (cutover vs. CDC continuous replication).
- Pilot migration of one non-critical workload to validate the approach before touching production.
- Phased migration with cutover windows sized to your risk tolerance.
- Zero-downtime approach using blue-green deployments or traffic shifting.
- AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for database cutovers with Change Data Capture (CDC) to keep source and target in sync until cutover.
- Post-migration validation, monitoring setup (CloudWatch), and handover documentation.
AWS Migration Acceleration Programme (MAP) provides funding for qualifying migrations. MAP eligibility requires specific workload thresholds and an AWS Migration Competency holder as the delivery partner. Matellio is actively building toward Migration Competency. Ask our team about current funding options for your migration.

Re-platform / Migration
FinTech
AWS Services
- Amazon ECS
- Amazon RDS
- AWS CodePipeline
- Amazon CloudFront
About
A US FinTech company was growing faster than its architecture. Rapid user growth, mounting technical debt, and a cloud migration on the horizon — all at once, with zero tolerance for service disruption. Matellio modernised the infrastructure, rebuilt third-party integrations as APIs, and executed the cloud migration without taking the service offline.
Impact
100% uptime maintained throughout the upgrade and migration. Faster incorporation processing post-launch. Platform scaled for continued growth without re-architecture.
Re-architect
eCommerce & Retail
AWS Services
- Amazon ECS
- Amazon DynamoDB
- AWS Lambda
About
An eCommerce platform provider was running a legacy monolithic architecture — slow query performance, subscription-heavy tools, manual inventory and order workflows, and redundant dashboards that no longer served the business. Matellio replaced the monolith with a scalable, API-driven platform with native Amazon and Shopify integrations, automated workflows, and a rebuilt data architecture.
Impact
Lower operational costs. Stronger analytics. Improved scalability. Amazon and Shopify integrations automated — no manual intervention on order workflows.
Re-platform / Modernisation
Financial Services
AWS Services
- Re-platform / Modernisation
- Financial Services
About
A US financial services company was running mortgage and loan data processing on slow, outdated monolithic architecture — manual logic, fragile legacy dependencies, and a compliance reporting process that was increasingly hard to maintain. Matellio rebuilt the platform using Truffle Grid, optimised cash-flow calculations, improved data exports, and streamlined integration workflows.
Impact
Faster processing. Improved compliance reporting. Reduced dependency on fragile legacy logic.
Why Matellio for AWS migration
Beyond the Migration. Here's What You Actually Get.
50–70% Lower Delivery Cost Than US-Based Consultancies
We've Migrated Carrier-Grade, Compliance-Heavy, and Legacy-Entrenched Workloads
Not every migration consultancy will take on a PowerBuilder application that runs a bank’s loan portfolio, a contact centre running 150,000 concurrent voice calls, or an on-premises platform with six years of accumulated technical debt and no documentation. We have. The team that delivered those migrations is the same team that will work on yours.
Terraform IaC on Every Migration — No Exceptions
Every resource in the target AWS environment is defined in Terraform before it’s provisioned. That means the migration is reproducible, auditable, and rollback-capable at any stage. For regulated workloads — SOC 2, HIPAA, GovCloud, CJIS — this is not a nice-to-have, it’s a compliance requirement.
Zero-Downtime Is the Constraint, Not the Goal
We design migrations around the constraint that production cannot go offline. Blue-green deployments, traffic shifting, AWS DMS with CDC replication to keep source and target synchronised until cutover — these are default architecture decisions, not premium options. The 100% uptime track record on our FinTech migration is the output of treating downtime as non-negotiable from Sprint 1.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Buyers Actually Want to Know Before Committing to a Migration
How do we know which migration pattern is right for our system?
The Assess phase answers this. We do a dependency map, a database migration complexity score, an infrastructure audit, and a technical debt assessment — and we give you a specific recommendation: Re-host, Re-platform, or Re-architect. The recommendation includes the rationale, the risk register, and the effort estimate. You decide. We deliver whichever pattern you choose.
Can you migrate a system that's still in active use with no maintenance window?
Yes. We use AWS Database Migration Service with Change Data Capture to keep source and target databases synchronised during migration, so there’s no point where production traffic needs to stop. For application cutovers, we use blue-green deployments or weighted routing via Route 53 to shift traffic gradually — with the ability to roll back in minutes if anything unexpected surfaces.
What's the difference between migration and modernisation?
Migration moves a workload from one environment to another — on-premises to AWS. Modernisation changes how the workload is built — monolith to microservices, batch to event-driven, SQL to cloud-native database. They often happen together. A Re-platform or Re-architect pattern migrates and modernises simultaneously. A Re-host migrates first, modernises later. We recommend which approach makes sense for your situation in the Assess phase.
Is AWS MAP funding available for our migration?
AWS MAP (Migration Acceleration Programme) provides credits and funded assessments for qualifying migrations — but it requires the delivery partner to hold the AWS Migration Competency. Matellio is actively building toward that Competency. In the meantime, we are eligible for AWS Partner Funding for Customers (APFP) PoC credits on qualifying engagements. Ask our team about current funding options — the answer depends on your workload size and migration complexity.
What happens after the migration is done?
We hand over documented Terraform modules, CloudWatch dashboards, and operational runbooks. If you want a partner to continue operating the environment, our Managed Services practice picks up from exactly where the migration ends — same team, same infrastructure standards, no transition overhead.
How much does a migration actually cost?
depends on workload count; our free assessment gives a ballpark. Most migrations cost 50–70% less with Matellio vs. US firms.
Can you handle licensing analysis?
Yes, full licensing audit is part of our Assess phase.
Do you work with orgs that don't have a CMDB or dependency map?
Most of our clients don’t. Discovery is step one.
